Former Managing Director
Anugrah Madison Advertising Pvt. Ltd.

R Seshadri

A Commerce Graduate from the University of Bombay with PG Diploma in Advertising & Marketing, Mr. Seshadri started his career as a Trainee over three decades ago in Clarion Advertising Services, Mumbai then the 2nd largest Advertising Agency in India.

He later moved to Ulka Advertising, Mumbai (now FCB Ulka) and quickly rose to become the Group Manager in charge of prestigious clients like Voltas, Geoffrey Manners, Godrej, P&G, Singapore Airlines etc., giving him rich exposure to the communication needs of brands from varying sectors.

After a successful 9 years stint in Advertising in Mumbai, he moved on to Chennai in 1988 to join Anugrah Marketing & Advertising Services P Ltd., an Advertising Agency started in 1986 to cater to the growing communication needs of clients based in an emerging market like Chennai.

Handling prestigious brands like MRF (Farm Tyre Division), Parrys (Agri Inputs), Jain Irrigation, T Stanes & Co. (Agri inputs) largely catering to the farming sector gave him rich insights into farmers’ behavior at a time when the rural market had still not opened up for other product categories.

With growing importance of rural markets in the late 90s, Anugrah’s rich experience in addressing the farming community helped them bag the communication mandate of Philips Consumer Electronics Division in 1997-98 to target the rural consumers in TN & AP.

The extensive market study undertaken by him and other team members at Anugrah helped in developing and delivering a highly rural focused and successful campaign for Philips, proving to be a game changer in the market.

During his over 25 years stint at Anugrah Madison in Chennai, he has also handled the Rural Marketing & Communication needs of other prestigious clients like ACC, Airtel, Castrol, Cavin Kare, Colgate, Everest Industries, ITC, Marico, Sanmar, Trubore,  Shriram Transport Finance, Titan, etc.

He has been a guest faculty teaching Rural Marketing in several management institutes in the South for over two decades and has also conducted workshops and addressed seminars on the subject of rural marketing in addition to writing on the subject.

After his retirement from Anugrah Madison in 2013, he has been devoting his time to teach Rural Marketing and Communication to students of Management institutes as a visiting faculty, in addition to teaching the subject for a Management Development programme organized by IIM-Bangalore every year.He is also the Past President of the Advertising Club Madras and the Rotary Club of Madras South and is still actively involved in Rotary’s community
